We're excited to release another incredible coffee from Colombia! This time a very special and limited lot of one of our all-time favourite varieties, Typica Mejorada.

Mauricio owns and runs Fincal la Negrita, located at 1800masl on the rich volcanic soil of the snow capped Tolima Volcano (Nevado del Tolima). The farm is located on the slopes in a V-shaped valley, so the coffee trees only get around 7 hours of sunlight per day with warm temperatures ranging up to 25 °C, while a light drizzle at night protects the coffee trees from low temperatures, this microclimate favors harvest almost all year round. Only about 10% of the farm is planted while the rest is kept as a protected rainforest.

On the plantation, Mauricio grows many exotic varieties including Geisha, Mokka, Laurina, Wush Wush and this Typica Mejorada. This lot was carefully hand picked in order to select only the ripest cherries and then hand sorted to remove any defects, before being sundried on raised beds in temperature controlled conditions.

The result in the cup is absolutely phenomenal and we're tasting notes of red dragonfruit, melon and gummy bears.
